BILLFISH! AN ANGLER'S DREAM!There is no other greater prize for a fisherman than to catch a billfish. Whether a marlin, sailfish or the rare swordfish, these brutes are the kings of fishes. Nothing is more exciting than seeing their acrobatic leaps and antics during the fight. Regardless of size, all billfish put up a thrilling fight! While my billfishing experience is limited, I have had the good fortune to have caught five (four marlin and one sailfish), I have hooked several much larger. One, who I had briefly last year, was a five hundred pounder or better, according to my guide. I have, however, seen many billfish in action, whether coming in to sardines being chummed or slapping around a trolling lure. Any time spent in their presence is time well spent. |
