I LOVE TO CATCH DORADO!!!Mahi-Mahi, Dolphin, Dorado. Whatever you want to call them, these guys are some kind of fun to catch. I don't know of a fish more aggressive when it comes to attacking a bait or lure than dorado. Maybe it comes from their dynamic metabolism which drives them to eat 24/7 if possible. I have seen them slam the largest marlin lures, sometimes half their size, without a blink. While I've caught dorado in several areas, the southern Baja coast of the Sea of Cortez is dorado ground zero in my opinion. The area around La Paz, especially Las Arenas, holds tons of dorado and big ones to boot. Check out these pics of dorado I've caught over the years. All were caught in the La Paz Mexico area. |
