Our Mission

Combat Wounded Veterans of South Mississippi (CWVSM) serves and supports those who so valiantly serve our country. CWVSM's mission is to provide a bridge for our Mississippi wounded warriors in their transition from military service to civilian life. Because of this support, these warriors are empowered to seek and obtain the care, assistance, and futures they deserve as America's heroes.

Our Vision

To advocate, to empower, to ensure every combat wounded veteran in the state of Mississippi has the opportunity to, and the foundation on which, to live a successful and productive life.

Combat Wounded Veterans of South Mississippi is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. It was founded 8 Feb 2011by Donna Anderson, a nurse working for Keesler Medical Center as a Wounded Warrior Case Manager who saw the need first hand. She realized that she needed to engage the local community to help meet the needs and to serve as support to those that served our country. It is the first organization of its kind in the area that is run and maintained locally.

During the time of service, many of our local servicemen and women sustained psychological and physical disabilities and are unable to continue their career in the military. Some are discharged without the benefit of a retirement pension. The adjustment from military to a civilian way of life can be difficult for the wounded veterans and their families. During this time the CWVSM serves as a bridge to improve the lines of communication, provide access to resources, and assist financially with emergent needs. Request Services from CWVSM.
