Multimedia350 - Mike Erwin, Instructor
By John Williamson
What a great class. I always wondered why my web text always looked wordy. The rule of thumb in web writing is KEEP IT SIMPLE. One can explain the most complicated of subjects and still get the point across. Here are some important things to consider:
-
Be Clear: Nothing is more frustrating than unclear or muddy wording or text
-
Be Concise: Choose words carefully to maximize their impact
-
Be Complete: Completely cover the entire topic with the fewest words
From here the course began to explore the inverted pyramid style. This unique style of writing inverts the text so that the most important or interesting points are placed in descending order. This allows a writer to draw a reader into the subject at hand. Once there, the reader can quickly find their information.
The class is taught by Mike Erwin, the lovable lug of a multimedia teacher. His freestyle approach to teaching is always refreshing and it allows the student to not feel intensive pressure and allows them to get their work done.
